Episode 2: Frozen Worlds

I contributed to all but 1 sequence on this episode. In the Antarctic I filmed the gentoo porpoising and rafting topside (Alex Voyer filmed the underwater). I filmed the Gentoo penguins climbing up to their nest sites with Hector Skevington-Postles. I filmed the humpback whales lunge feeding and bubble netting. I worked with Hector again on the drone for the aerials of this amazing behaviour. I filmed the topside of the orca hunting a gentoo penguin and worked with Hector on the aerials of that scene. I filmed the southern oceans sequence and wandering albatross. I also filmed king penguins being hunted by leopards seals, navigating a maze of sleeping elephant seals and then finding their chicks in the huge creches on South Georgia. In the Arctic I filmed the polar bear sequences. I also shot the aerials and topside of the narwhals, while Doug Anderson shot the underwater. And finally I filmed the walrus sequence. For the aerials of the walrus I again worked with Hector who piloted the drone. I also appear in the making-of for this episode. Frozen Worlds represented the series and won an Emmy for Best Documentary Series. It has also been nominated for a BAFTA for cinematography and Grierson Award for Best Documentary.
