This is a short version of the sequence I filmed for The Hunt, BBC (2015). In 2013 I wanted to build a rig that I would allow me to keep up with the dogs at 40mph over very tough terrain and capture images that no one had seen before... to make the audience feel like they we’re on the hunt with the dogs. I’m really proud of the sequence... its still one of my all time favourites.

Young Wildebeest Escapes Wild Dog Pack
This is a clip from a sequence I filmed on an incredibly busy 11 day shoot for Our Planet: One Planet. Having put viewers amongst the dog pack for The Hunt (BBC 2015) I wanted to shoot a wild dog hunt from the perspective of a wildebeest mother with her calf. I wanted to put the viewer amongst the herd and show what its like to be the hunted rather than the hunter. Which is a much more difficult thing to film! But despite the fact we only had 11 days (and about that number of hours sleep on the whole shoot) I'm really proud of the sequence and the shot where the female wildebeest saves her calf which then sprints to safety is one of my alll time favourites.

It would have been great to have had more time on location to build the story in more detail but schedules and budget didn’t allow it... sometimes you just have to hustle!

On location in South Dakota for Our Planet (Netflix, 2019). One of the first foreign shoots I ever did was assisting Martyn Colbeck filming bison for Life of Mammals... so i couldn't resist the chance to go back and film these incredible animals again. Its an incredible feeling being amongst the herd when the bulls are in full fight club mode! We were in a small ATV for Our Planet... which is intense enough... but when I was with Martyn we were on foot! Great days!
